“I started reading this book with some trepidation, not my usual type of book but after the first few pages I was hooked!! The sadness, the ups and downs, the laughter and life changing events throughout the book brought out so many emotions! I would be tearful on one page and laughing out loud on the next. Congratulations to the author of this book, your writing style is true brilliance. Looking forward to the next one!”

Abuse – let us end this insidious silence now!

Dissociated trauma memories do not simply reveal themselves like ordinary memories. Like pieces of a puzzle, they escape the primitive part of our brain where the trauma has been stored without words.

These starkly vivid and detailed images are defined by our five senses and emotions, but there is no ‘story’. So therefore, we are left struggling to comprehend the incomprehensible whilst striving to describe what doesn’t make sense.

Loving My Passion !!

Looks like i’m gonna have to give someone a commission – this gentleman just rang me to say both he and his wife read and loved my book and in telling their elderly friends about MY story, they all want their own copies to read. We joked about how they all not into or understanding this internet thing – lol – so he was calling to see if I could order their copies for them. Giving Thanx I have spare copies here intended for an upcoming event – he was ecstatic when I told him he could have those . 6 different couples wanted books he said . OK I replied: I will drop the 6 books to you tomorrow. No! He said: its 12 copies he needed. The couples each want their own copies! At fe dem age dem can’t wait pon dem one another fe done read dat deh book suh! I laugh till me nearly drop off de chair !

Still amazes me the diversity of the age groups of people reading my book !

Giving Thanx my written words appealing to one and all.

A great book. Well done. Sometimes sad sometimes funny. A true reflection of life. Can’t wait for part two. Brilliant.
5.0 out of 5 stars ‘Inspire Yourself’ 22 Dec 2013
This review is from: The Journey of I & I: [The Definition of I & I] (Paperback)
I honestly cannot remember the last time I encountered such a genius yet concise interpretation of a ranged symphony of emotions and experiences. The writing style by Jah siSTAR (such a unique pen name by the way) is nothing short of amazing. Biographies and the sort are more often then not bogged down by too many words in an effort to fill page space and bad experiences can be dragged out leaving the reader feeling sympathetic yet dragged down. This entire book is based on terrible and scarring experiences yet the frequent interlacing of the good and bad experiences and the overall overwhelming yet ever so real motivational factors, left me feeling rejuvenated. All of this in addition to the fact Jah siSTAR came out of nowhere/from under the radar with such a great first book, makes her book not just a fantastic READ but also an incredible JOURNEY. I recommend this as a life-changing read.

Despite the horrific experiences the main character Liz faced, these experiences are intertwined with humour, honesty and a variety of emotions that only result in one thing, the eagerness to turn the page and read on. The author, Jah siSTAR, should be very proud because they have created a book that is head and shoulders above the rest. Compared to other similar books I found myself wanting to know more and the way the main character is portrayed is not only riveting but a joy to read. I hope this is the first of many books to come.

A brilliantly written memoir by an unknown Author. From the very first page, indeed, the preface pages, I was hooked. I immediately found myself wanting to know more about the main character of the book. Reading through chapter one I felt I was indeed accompanying this young ‘child’ on a journey of drama and a vast array of emotions, so authentically descriptive and emotive. The whole book feels and reads authentically. The majority of biographies I have read just leave you feeling somewhat depressed and battered and bruised, but this book also somehow leaves you feeling uplifted and inspired. A very motivational read. In fact, I eagerly await in anticipation for this Author’s second installment of her life’s journey. I would recommend this book in a heartbeat and therefore give it a worthy five stars out of five. Excellent.

From the first page I was hooked & felt I was experiencing some of this with the author. A very thought provoking book but one I was unable to put down. I feel so very blessed to be able to read such a sad but also uplifting true story. I take off my hat to the author for allowing me through her words a better understanding of childhood abuse and her courage in maintaining her dignity and living a fulfilling life with her children. Thank you so much. All the best for the future and hopefully more great books xx

Maybe it’s because, I, a 45yr old White/ Chinese man has, incredibly, shared so many of the raw emotions the author brings to life in writing her words or not, as I n I traveled through her Journey, I n I simultaneously felt compelled to re-read my own and I’m delighted to say I n I came to a better conclusion than previously. Thank you Jah siStar for sharing your Journey and helping me to put mine back on track One Love sisdren.

“Once you set peace of mind as your goal and work towards achieving that goal, anything and everything is possible. My life message will always be one of HOPE.”

EVEN WHILST I WAS A VICTIM I WAS A SURVIVOR………

Even whilst I was a victim I was a survivor. Once I set peace of mind as my goal and worked towards that – all things became possible. In speaking out and having others read my story – from what the Readers are saying and commenting after reading my book, it was the best and most courageous thing that I have undertaken to date. The abuser’s heinous crimes were not my responsibility or burden to carry. xxxx

Giving Immense Thanx for Life!

Felt quite emotional this evening whilst listening to Miz Bella Blake on the above radio show as we heard two courageous ladies speak of their cancer survival journeys. The subject brought back a lot of memories of my own cancer journey a few years back – a thrice-survived journey as that dreaded beast returned not once but twice after the initial diagnosis.

I wanted to share my appreciations to those beautiful ladies who spoke with honest integrity about their experiences and afforded us, the listeners, to feel uplifted and motivated to spread the word about encouraging each other to check ourselves more and to be more aware. Nuff respects.

A beautiful blog of coping with and dealing with cancer head on.

Thank you Lisa. 🙂 ❤

Comments Received from Readers of my book: ‘The Journey of I & I’

You have to believe that you are on the right path as an Author of your own personal life, when you are told:

“You gave me the courage to confide in my best friend what had happened to me and together, with her much needed support, I finally, after 11 years, reported the guy who had abused me as a child”.

I respect you for having that courage.

“Even as I came to the last pages I found myself pulling on my shoes and coat……..my next destination just HAD to be the local police station. I knew if I had hesitated even for a fraction of a second that I would have lost that impetus and strength that reading your words gave to me. Thank you”.

I thank you for recognizing that inner strength that you so clearly had all along.

“The more of your book that I read, the more I realised that my barely suppressed years of anger was fading. I didn’t understand why at first, then it occurred to me it was to do with something you had said [written] about it not being my responsibility to shoulder the burdens of another person and of taking back my power. I am so grateful because those words are still ringing in my ears”.

Those words you read were only a catalyst of what you yourself already knew. It was your time to release that burden and move forwards in living your life free of guilt, shame and rage.

“I don’t think I have read a book about surviving domestic violence and sexual abuse that actually leaves you feeling inspired, motivated and uplifted to the point you feel quite invincible and like you can achieve anything and everything you ever wanted to”.

I appreciate those kind and complimentary comments and am thankful and happy that you received the messages of HOPE as intended. Stay Blessed.

I MYSELF AM CONTINUOUSLY GRATEFUL AND HAPPY THAT YOU ALL ARE GETTING/EXPERIENCING SOMETHING PROFOUND AND MEANINGFUL FROM MY WRITTEN WORDS WHICH ,AS YOU MUST KNOW, CAME FROM THE DEEPEST REGIONS OF MY HEART AND SOUL. I THANK YOU FOR FULLY EMBRACING THE MESSAGES INTENDED AND FOR HAVING THE COURAGE TO GIVE YOURSELVES PERMISSION TO HEAL AND TO MOVE FORWARDS. THANK YOU FOR SHARING ALSO YOUR THOUGHTS AND COMMENTS. IT REALLY HAS BEEN AND CONTINUES TO BE MY PRIVILEGE TO BE A SMALL PART OF YOUR JOURNEYS ALSO.

Stay Eternally Blessed. Love you All.
